Perfect indian rice

Perfect Indian Rice

Ingredients
5 handfuls of Basmati rice, washed
1 chicken stock cube
1 lemon
1tsp turmeric
1 Spring onion

Method
Place your washed rice in to a sauce pan and fill with boiling water an inch above the rice.

Add a tsp turmeric and squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon (then throw the lemon in to cook)

Add a stock cube and bring to the boil, stirring to dissolve the cube.

Once the water is bubbling, place a lid on the pan and turn the heat down to really low.

Thinly slice your spring onions, diagonally.

After ten minutes, check on your rice to see if it has cooked.  Place on the plate then sprinkle spring onions over the top.

Et voila!

(remember turmeric is not to flavour, it's to colour.  Turmeric is a flavourant but it tastes horrible in large quantities, almost stodgy, so measure well!)
